songs of sleep and devotion

i've been trying my darnedest to get back to bed, but my internals wake me at 3:52 and again at 5:37. someday, i'll find the significance & beauty behind those eight minutes my biotime steals from me, but for now, i need something to count.

maybe ipod track plays. three songs have been swirling on my queens blvd commute the past month:

new order - your silent face

duncan sheik - i wouldn't mind

inxs - don't change

like a good ol' saturday night revival.

three-day weekends have a way of shifting my to-do lists, making this columbus day more stressful than a typical work monday. but as far as frustrations go, my life is no more irksome than rock band beatles bass on expert. enjoyable overall, but watch for quick change-ups.

thanks to my recent research proficiency in spanish from columbia, i now have an open window to matriculate into the teacher's college next year. if i wasn't bound to credit counseling, i'd entertain another 80+G's in ed loans for the PhD. especially from columbia. realizations: 1) now that i'm 'ready' for my fulbright, i have another reason to stay in nyc and never go anywhere. 2) with parent-teacher conferences and phone calls home coming up, i really must start that rosetta stone spanish course. 3) forty and 100G's in debt, frakkkk me. no no no!

but i had this daydream while watching 'sunshine' for the umpteenth time: i was a SpEd teacher at lane tech, co-teaching in mrs. king's old 'book nook' classroom. it felt glorious. now i know i'm a sucker for belonging. i'm not exactly sure where this will fit in my hopeless quest for the invisible city with my name on it, but sign me up. if the position opens up next year, i'm taking it.

oh, yeah, i'mma start posting here on the regular. no promises, but y're still safe as houses.
